The Fault in Our Stars - John Green

I really wanted to like this book so much more than I did. I wouldn't call it a bad book, I would say it's a decent book. I'm not a huge fan of John Green in general and this hasn't changed my mind on that at all. I don't think he's a bad writer but it's just not something I really enjoy reading. I could list some reasons why I don't really like his books but I'm not going to. There were a lot of things I did admire about this book and how it was written. But other times it fell short. A lot of things were put into the characters that did make them seem like realistic teenagers and yet at other times they were just completely unrealistic and a bit overdone. Some of the plot was overdone. Van Houten seemed like a plot device really and nothing more than that. Otherwise, I would say it was an alright book in general.
